In the backyard area one can see the Khangzang Chorten, traditional hot stone bath (dotsochapsa) and fire woods stacked and stored to use during the winters. The Khangzang Chorten was built near their house to subdue all the negativity against the upholding of the dharma. It is also used for circumambulation by older members of the family. Architectural work of this type expresses the ideals, aspirations and beliefs of the Bhutanese people in material form.

A traditional hot stone bath is usually enjoyed on special occasions such as Losar (the Bhutanese New year), the Winter solstice, the Blessed Rainy Day etc.in addition to the senior citizens love for regular soaks to ease their old bones. These herbal baths are also believed to have healing effects on people who suffer from rheumatism and other physical ailments.
